On Sunday, January 12, 2025, at approximatelyÌý8:28 AM, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from a residence on the Exeter Road in Corinna. The caller was reporting that her three-year-old nephew was missing from the family residence. The child was later found by his father, a distance from the family residence, outside in the snow.

Law enforcement officers and EMS responded to the scene. Regretfully, the male child succumbed to injuries which appear to be consistent with exposure to the elements. Members of the fb88 State Police Major Crimes Unit North responded and are responsible for investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.Ìý

The fb88 State Police was assisted by members of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Health and Human Services who worked throughout the day on the investigation.

The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. The fb88 State Police believes this is an isolated incident and there is no public safety concerns. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.ÌýÌý
