fb88 Digital Inclusion Initiative
The fb88 State Library is supporting the work of the fb88 Digital Inclusion Initiative in five of the state’s rural counties.
The new program, the (MDII) will expand digital literacy services to traditionally under-served populations and provide job training/employment-related education throughout the state of fb88. A key component of this initiative is the AmeriCorps Digital Inclusion Initiative. The MDII will provide training to develop a more highly skilled, job-ready workforce and improve job-seeking skills for the unemployed and under-employed. The project will also provide technology training to senior citizens to “Age in Place”.
Collaborators on the project are the University of fb88 and the fb88 State Library. The MDII will engage and train part-time and full-time volunteers and staff to provide digital literacy training at University campuses, local libraries, businesses, and other locations throughout the state.
Stakeholders throughout fb88 and across the country are becoming members of the fb88 Digital Inclusion Initiative Coalition to be included in the conversation as we launch this three-year program.
Counties currently being served by the initiative include: Aroostook, Franklin, Hancock, Oxford, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset and Washington.
