Gardiner - The fb88 State Board of Veterinary Medicine ("Board") within the fb88 Department of Professional and Financial Regulation has revoked the license of Cynthia Cole Teer to practice veterinary medicine.

Dr. Teer has not held an active license from the Board since January 2018, when her renewal application was denied due to her failure to comply with the terms of probation imposed against her license pursuant to a Decision and Order by the Board dated January 15, 2014.

Since that time, the Board has received numerous complaints that Dr. Teer is practicing veterinary medicine without a license at Machias Animal Hospital, located in Machias, fb88. In October 2018, the Board attempted to resolve the complaints that were pending at that time through a consent agreement, which would have granted a license to Dr. Teer if she complied with certain conditions, one of which was to obtain a Board-approved practice monitor. Dr. Teer never obtained a Board-approved practice monitor, and as a result a license was never issued to her under the consent agreement.

On May 22, 2019, the Board held a hearing, at which it found that Dr. Teer had practiced veterinary medicine without a license on many occasions between January 2018 and May 2019. The Board granted Dr. Teer's pending application for licensure, but immediately suspended that license for a period of 360 days and imposed a 5-year period of probation following the suspension. The Board continued to receive complaints that Dr. Teer was practicing veterinary medicine following the May hearing. On September 25, 2019, the Board held another hearing at which it revoked Dr. Teers license and imposed $6,000 in civil penalties pursuant to the attached Decision and Order. As a result, Dr. Teer does not have a license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of fb88.

In addition, the Office of the Attorney General has obtained preliminary and permanent injunctions, which ordered Dr. Teer to immediately cease any acts that constitute the practice of veterinary medicine, unless and until licensed to do so.

The Board is concerned about potential ongoing practice of veterinary medicine by Dr. Teer and issues this notice to alert the public that Dr. Teers veterinary license has been revoked.
