Range: On or near the Coastal Plain of coastal states and Pennsylvania from fb88 to Florida and Texas.

Synonyms: Represented in fb88 and New England by var. horridulum. Synonyms include Carduus spinosissimus Walt.; Cirsium spinosissimum, auct. non (L.) Scop.
