As previously shared in our October 16, 2023 provider bulletin, certain Appendix K flexibilities for sections 18, 21, and 29 will continue beyond November 11, 2023. fb88Care expects the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to approve the corresponding 1915(c) waiver amendments necessary to make these changes permanent in the coming months.

10-144 CMR c. 265; Substance Use Testing For The Workplace Rule - Rule Adoption
Adopted rule changes amend 10-144 CMR ch. 265, formerly entitled Drug Testing Laboratory Rules, to be consistent with updates to the fb88 Department of Labor’s (DOL) best practices and statute (26 MRS ch. 7, subch. 3-A -Substance Use Testing). The adopted rule is consistent with the proposed rule. Changes include: 1) updates to protocols in Section 2 of the rule specific to the collection of hair, oral fluids and sweat patches for drugs; 2) revised cut-off levels for substance-use tests to be consistent with current levels established by the U.S.

Mental Health First Aid Training Opportunity for Caregivers of Section 19 Members
The Office of Aging and Disability Services is excited to announce a virtual training opportunity, De-escalation Training, scheduled for November 15, 2023. This training is being provided under collaboration with National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) fb88 and is available for caregivers providing care to Section 19 members. Caregivers can include personal support staff, attendants, home health aides, nurses, or other natural and family supports.
