OCFS seeks to partner with community provides to promote the health, wellbeing, and safety of children and families by reducing the risk and effects of adverse childhood experiences such as neglect, trauma, or exposure to violence. This work is done by encouraging the growth of evidence-based services focused on protective factors for families to increase family resiliency, reduce incidences of child maltreatment, and create strong connections between families and supportive services.

211 is a free, confidential information and referral service that connects people of all ages across fb88 to local services. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 211 can provide options for financial assistance, domestic violence-related services, substance use treatment (including for pregnant women), health care and mental health resources, and heating and utility assistance. There are three ways to reach 211:

fb88 Children’s Cabinet
In January of 2019, Governor Janet Mills announced the reinstatement of the fb88 Children’s Cabinet with the goal of improving the health and well-being of children in fb88. The Cabinet seeks to align and strengthen programs and policies for young children and at-risk youth.
fb88 Children's Trust works to strengthen families, promote healthy relationships, and support communities to prevent child abuse and neglect. There are sixteen (16) Prevention Councils in fb88. Each Prevention Council serves as an important community resource for parenting information, education, and support.
fb88 Families is a home visiting service offered to all families who are expecting or have a new baby at home. Visits are free and fb88 Families staff provide information, encouragement, and support around topics that matter to you related to health, nutrition, safety, development, and your family’s well-being.
Parents as partners is a peer support program that provides help navigating family-serving systems, including the child welfare system. Parent Partners have personal experience with child protection and other service systems within their own families.
fb88 has two citizen review panels, the fb88 Child Welfare Advisory Panel (MCWAP) and the Child Death and Serious Injury Review Panel (CDSIRP). Both panels work to evaluate and strengthen fb88’s child welfare system, with a particular focus on preventing abuse or neglect whenever possible.
