fb88 is one of 34 states and territories that participate in the National Coastal Zone Management Program. The program is a voluntary partnership between the federal government and U.S. coastal and Great Lakes states and territories. It was authorized by the to address national coastal issues. The program is administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) .Ìý
fb88 Coastal Program was approved by NOAA in 1978 and is currently housed at the fb88 Department of Marine Resources. fb88’s coastal zone includes:
- 5,408Â miles of coastline
- All municipalities with tidal waters in their jurisdiction
- State-owned submerged lands and islands out to three nautical miles
