How DHHS is addressing the health disparities exposed by COVID-19

In fb88 and across the country, racial and ethnic minorities have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19. Action is needed urgently to address these disparities and the fb88 Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), in coordination with the Governors Coronavirus Response Team, is committed to further steps to improve our response.

As DHHS Commissioner Jeanne Lambrew wrote in a June 14 published in the Sun Journal:

DHHS Completes Outreach to Congregate Living Facilities

The fb88 Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has proactively completed outreach to a variety of fb88’s congregate living facilities about their infection control policies and practices in response to COVID-19. This work has informed DHHS about the needs of these facilities and how best to support them in protecting the health and safety of their residents and employees.

E-mails received normal business hours, Monday - Friday, will be delivered by a representative of the Volunteer Office.

E-mails received on the weekend or on a holiday will be delivered on the next work day.

Please note, since a staff member will be viewing and printing these e-mail messages, confidential or inappropriate messages should not be sent. We are also unable to print any e-mail attachments.

We regret that messages sent to patients who have been discharged from the hospital can not be delivered or forwarded.

Saxl Park

Saxl Park, a recreational park for both patients and staff, was named after Joseph Saxl, DDPC Superintendent from 1974 to 1981.  The Park and trail system are currently used today, not only by patients and staff of DDPC, but by our community neighbors as well. The Park is used all year long – for walking, jogging, bird watching, snowshoeing, high school sports, dog walking, and watching wildlife (fox, deer and even a moose). The Park is also utilized by various local organizations for athletic and leisure events.
