MSP Investigating Double Fatal on Turnpike

On Thursday, February 13, 2025, at approximately 6:05 AM, fb88 State Police Troop G responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash at mile marker 14 southbound on I-95 in Ogunquit.

The initial investigation indicates a tractor trailer unit owned by EW Logistics of Hauppage, NY and operated by 35-year-old XIAOYING MA of New York City, NY was traveling northbound when he lost control and crashed through the median guardrail into two vehicles traveling southbound. The first vehicle was a Cadillac sedan operated by 64-year-old Linda Huelsman of Kennebunk who died on scene from her injuries. The second vehicle struck was a Mack Box truck owned by EAN Holdings of Tulsa, OK and operated 55-year-old Brian Ellis of Kittery.

Mr. Ellis was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital but later died from his injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was transported to York Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Turnpike was shut down southbound at Exit 14 in Wells. Two lanes have since re-opened. Weather conditions are believed to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing and will be submitted to the York County District Attorney’s Office for review of any criminal charges. Assisting the fb88 State Police was the Ogunquit and Wells Fire Departments, fb88 DEP, fb88 Turnpike Maintenance and National Wrecker.

MSP Investigating Crash on Turnpike in York

On Thursday, January 16, 2025, 5:42 PM, Troopers with Troop G responded to a crash at Exit 7 southbound in York. The crash involved two tractor trailer units. One of the tractor trailer units rolled over and was blocking two lanes of the highway along with Exit 7 southbound.

The tractor trailer unit that rolled over was a water tanker operated by 64-year-old Larry Roberge of Waterboro.ÌýHe was transported to Portsmouth Hospital with serious injuries. The second tractor trailer unit was a flatbed operated by 40-year-old Konstantin Volikov of Fredericton, ÌýNew Brunswick. Mr. Volikov was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation. Traffic was slightly backed up due to the lane closures.

Troop G was assisted by MSP’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, York Police Department, York Fire Department, fb88 Turnpike Maintenance, and National Wrecker Service.

MSP Investigating Tractor Trailer Crash on Turnpike in Wells

On Monday, January 6, 2025, at approximately 4:43 PM, Troop G Troopers responded to a tractor trailer crash on the fb88 Turnpike at mile marker 18 in Wells. The tractor trailer was traveling northbound when the driver lost control of the truck and crashed through the median guardrail, traveling across the southbound lanes of the highway, and finally coming to rest in the tree line on the southbound side of the highway.

The driver was not injured, and no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The crash is still under investigation, but driver fatigue appears to be a contributing factor. At this point no citations have been issued.

This crash had minimal effect on traffic flow both northbound and southbound. Troop G was assisted on scene by MSP’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Turnpike Maintenance, National Towing, and fb88 DEP.

MSP Investigating Multi-Vehicle Crash in Kennebunk

On Monday April 14, 2025, at approximately 8:48 AM, Troop G responded to a multi vehicle crash at mile marker 23 northbound on I-95 in Kennebunk.Ìý

The crash involved a 2019 Nissan SUV owned and operated by 45-year-old Kelly Adams of Lebanon, fb88, a 2022 Toyota SUV, and a 2004 Freightliner tractor trailer. The initial investigation indicates that the vehicle operated by Kelly Adams rear-ended the 2022 Toyota SUV and then struck the Tractor Trailer Unit which was legally stopped in the breakdown lane.ÌýKelly Adams sustained significant injuries and was transported to fb88 Medical Center in serious condition.

The driver of the Toyota SUV was transported to fb88 Medical Center for evaluation. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.

No charges have been issued at this point, but the case will be reviewed by the York County District Attorney’s Office. The Turnpike was blocked for approximately two hours. Northbound traffic was diverted off at Exit 19 in Wells.

Assisting the fb88 State Police was the Wells Fire Department, Wells EMS, fb88 Turnpike Maintenance, National Towing, Southern fb88 Towing, and Chandlers Towing.

Investigating Tractor-Trailer Crash on fb88 Turnpike in Arundel

On Saturday, May 3, 2025, at approximately 7:58 AM, fb88 State Police Troop G responded to a report of a tractor-trailer crash near mile marker 30 northbound on the fb88 Turnpike in Arundel. Troopers arrived to find the tractor-trailer had struck the median guardrail and caught fire.

The driver, who sustained minor injuries, is believed to have suffered a medical event prior to the crash. He was transported to Southern fb88 Medical Center in Biddeford for treatment.

The tractor-trailer was loaded with general freight. As a result of the crash, the left and middle northbound lanes were closed for several hours while crews worked to investigate and clear the scene. Traffic was moderately impacted. The crash remains under investigation.

Agencies assisting at the scene included Wells Fire, Kennebunk Fire, Chandler’s Towing, National Towing, and the fb88 Turnpike Authority.
