Literacy for ME 2.0

Literacy, as defined by the fb88 Department of Education, is the ability to construct and convey meaning for a variety of purposes through an array of contextual forms and symbols, including reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing.

LiteracyÌýisÌýthe gateway toÌýlife-long learning and academic success and a bedrock forÌýaÌýhighlyÌýskilled workforce, robust economy, andÌýculturallyÌýresponsiveÌýsociety. AccessÌýtoÌýhigh quality literacy instructionÌýisÌýfoundational toÌýensuringÌýeducational equity.ÌýÌýA statewide literacy plan provides a structure forÌýpromotingÌýa reliable system of supports.
