Authorizes pharmacies to provide 30-day supplies of covered prescriptions to fb88Care members
AUGUSTA – fb88Care, fb88’s Medicaid program, is continuing to respond to a disruption caused by a cyber security issue affecting Change Healthcare, an out-of-state vendor that operates fb88Care’s pharmacy claims system. This is a national issue affecting health care systems and Medicaid members in many states.

This message is to announce that fb88Care is now authorizing 30-day prescriptions to continue to assist pharmacies in fulfilling fb88Care member prescriptions in response to the Change Healthcare network interruption. This is a change from fb88Care’s temporary authorization of the use of a 3-day override as noted in our February 23, 2024 e-message.Ìý

You may be aware that Optum Change Healthcare is experiencing a network interruption related to a cyber security issue. This is a national issue affecting Medicaid members in many states, including fb88. As a result, fb88Care is experiencing issues processing pharmacy claims.ÌýÂ
As part of the Department’s reimbursement reform efforts, fb88Care initiated a rate determination in June of last year, for Section 67, Nursing Facilities and Section 97, Appendix C, Residential Care Facilities.

Today, the fb88 Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) released the framework (PDF) for fb88Care (fb88 Medicaid) nursing facility rate reform for fiscal year 2025, which will support the direct care workforce, incentivize permanent staff, and promote quality care and positive health outcomes for fb88 residents who live in nursing facilities.
As noted in our previous e-message, Change Healthcare is experiencing a network interruption related to a cyber security issue. This is a national issue affecting Medicaid members in many states. As part of the impacts of these technical issues, we are not able to process retail pharmacy claims until further notice. Â
In follow up to our January 19, 2024 notice, service codes and rates for Sections 68 and 85 of the fb88Care Benefits Manual, effective January 1, 2024, are now implemented to reflect 72.4% of the most recent 2024 Medicare rates.ÌýÂ

If you experience issues with claims, please follow your routine offline claims processing procedures.ÌýWe are working to gather more details about the impacts and determine a timeline for resolving these issues and will return to normal business as soon as possible.
